70 acres of primarily Bordeaux and Rhone style grapes thrive in the shallow clay soils at the base of Roxy Ann Peak in Medford, Oregon, where there has been a long-standing tradition of preserving the family-owned property far before grapes were even planted. With a strong commitment to land conservation at the forefront of every decision, we have strategically paired effective sustainable farming practices with state-of-the-art production facilities to yield the best fruit and ultimately superior wines.
By utilizing methods such as cover crops, compost, and in-row cultivation to produce a natural cycle of nutrition and organic matter in the vineyard, we are able to support a living, healthy soil while preventing damage to the ecosystems that surround our vineyards. These practices ultimately ensure that we will be able to continue to produce the same, or greater, quality of wines generations from now without negative impact on the natural resources that surround us.
In 2009, past winemaker John Quinones came to RoxyAnn with a vision to truly elevate the region’s winemaking potential and recognized RoxyAnn as the perfect vehicle to drive that evolution. With this vision as our inspiration, we turned our eyes on aggressively restructuring our vineyards to refocus the direction of our best varietals.
We brought in highly acclaimed vineyard management specialists Matt Novak of Results Partners in McMinnville and Martin Mochizuki of Napa to bring a North and South approach to winemaking. They joined forces with Vineyard Supervisor Randy Gold, Hillcrest Orchard Farm Manager Terry Light, and John Quinones and got to work in the vineyard. The result is a refined focus on selected varietals that prove to not only thrive, but to truly be the backbone to a selection of harmoniously balanced and multifaceted wines.
Today, current winemaker, Kent Barthman continues the vision of elevating the region’s winemaking potential and establishing RoxyAnn Winery as Southern Oregon’s premier winery. The vineyards produce an excellent variety of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier that contribute to over 15,000 cases of wine produced annually.
