Winemaker's Corner — A View From The Vineyard
RoxyAnn's vineyards have disappeared behind a smoke screen and we need everyone's help to immediately put on wings and flap them down the vine rows to blow out the smoke. OK, enough 'A Walk in the Clouds' references, besides the smoke, things here are actually progressing nicely. We've gotten through the HOT days of Summer (we hope!) and the fruit is looking quite marvelous. Our excellent Vineyard staff (thanks Randy and Jason) have kept on top of the water situation, and our strategy seems to have worked to use water to slow the vigor of the vines in some of the blocks. Most all of the Pinot Noir, and the White varieties have gone through Veraison (no, not Verizon!! Veraison, meaning the fruit is changing color) and are moving towards one of, if not the earliest, harvest ever! But the quality seems to be there. Now we will get everything ready for the upcoming Harvest season. For some reason it seems a little more like an oncoming train this season, but Fred and Ian are here to talk me off on the ledge. Come over and enjoy the wines and the music, if you see or hear curses, grumbling, or occasional laughter coming from the Winery side you'll know that harvest has hit!

RoxyAnn Wine Reviews
Our wines have received exceptional reviews and quality ratings from magazines such as "Portland Monthly" to reviews from "BTI" and "Wine Enthusiast" to "The 50 BEST Wines in Oregon".
|Portland Monthy writes, "IF LOVE IS BLIND, falling for a great wine should happen sight unseen. From classic Pinot to hot-blooded Tempranillo, Oregon wine can hit some amazing highs. But how to choose the best? This year, we asked nine of Portland’s savviest wine pros to pick their favorite current releases."
Wine tastings were conducted over four days, fully blind, with hundreds of brown-bagged bottles hiding their stories and secrets from the panelists’ discerning noses and palates. Wines that made it through to the finals were then carefully tasted for fruit characteristics, acidity, alcohol, balance, tannins, and overall quality, with every decision surrounded by plenty of healthy debate. The result? Our 2009 Claret and 2009 Tempranillo list of Oregon’s 50 most lovable wines available.
