Classic BBQ Wine Pairings

With Summer arriving just around the corner, outdoor BBQ grills will be firing up all around the valley. While beer is one of the favorite beverages, you may want to consider pairing wine with your culinary creation. For example, our 2011 RoxyAnn Malbec pairs perfectly with burgers and/or ribs. Prefer white wine? Our 2014 Sauvingnon Blanc and 2012 Chardonnay pair well with chicken and/or fish. Click here to learn more about how to perfectely pair wine with your summer BBQ.

Winemaker's Corner — A View From The Vineyard

Spring has sprung here at RoxyAnn and the vines have awoken from their winter slumbers and poked their little leaves out to the Sun. Because of our mild Winter this event is happening at a record early date. The ramifications of this are multi, it can precede a long and high quality growing season, it can mean that they will get slammed by a Spring frost and set things back or even ruin the season (nothing good in this industry is ever without risk), or we can have a normal length season (of the usual high quality, of course!) and have the Harvest start in late July or early August! We'll just have to wait and see what Mother Nature gives us this year!

Otherwise in the Winery we are putting together the bottling blends for our July bottling. It will be featuring the bottling of our 2013 Claret, 2014 Chardonnay, 2014 Pinot Noir, and the 2013 Honor Barn. So we are busy selecting barrels to retain for the individual varietal bottlings (which will take place next February) and putting together the Claret Blend so that it will have some time to come together before the bottling date. I'm pretty excited about the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as they will be some of the first wines out to market (after the Pinot Gris) that I was directly involved in making!

Lastly (believe it or not) we are starting planning for the 2015 Harvest! Yes, it months away but we have to look at space requirements, barrel purchases, projected yields in the vineyards. Enjoy! Kent B

Southern Oregon Wines Love to Fly FREE — Extended through 2017!

Oregon Wines Fly Free program has been extended through 2017. The program encourages visitors traveling from Oregon on Alaska Airlines to bring a taste of Oregon home by checking a case of Oregon wine for free. Through collaboration between the Oregon Wine Board, Travel Oregon and Alaska Airlines, Oregon was the first state to launch a statewide wines fly free program in September 2013. Today, more than 300 Oregon wineries, including RoxyAnn Winery, participate.

The Oregon Wines Fly Free program allows Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members to check one case of wine at no cost on their return flight departing from one of four Oregon airports, as well as Walla Walla, Washington. As a bonus, inbound visitors can receive complimentary tastings at any participating winery by showing their Alaska Airlines boarding passes within a week of arrival. Membership in Alaska Airlines' award-winning Mileage Plan is free and customers can join at www.alaskaair.com.

2014 Pinot Gris Released!

On Saturday (3/14) during Spring Wine Club, we released our newly bottled 2014 Pinot Gris. With 100% Pinot Gris and 100% tank fermentation, the Pinot Gris is smooth and round. This is a generous, ripe Pinot Gris, with a distinct spiciness to the Bartlett pear, pineapple, and nectarine flavors that play well against the delicate citrus acidity. A rich, full-bodied wine that should please those seeking a lively mouthful of creamy, minerally-pear, stone-fruit, and pineapple flavors that linger on the harmoniously, long and juicy finish.

Stop by the Tasting Room today and enjoy a glass or bottle.

RoxyAnn Wine Reviews

Our wines have received exceptional reviews and quality ratings from magazines such as "Portland Monthly" to reviews from "BTI" and "Wine Enthusiast" to "The 50 BEST Wines in Oregon".

Portland Monthy writes, "IF LOVE IS BLIND, falling for a great wine should happen sight unseen. From classic Pinot to hot-blooded Tempranillo, Oregon wine can hit some amazing highs. But how to choose the best? This year, we asked nine of Portland’s savviest wine pros to pick their favorite current releases."
Wine tastings were conducted over four days, fully blind, with hundreds of brown-bagged bottles hiding their stories and secrets from the panelists’ discerning noses and palates. Wines that made it through to the finals were then carefully tasted for fruit characteristics, acidity, alcohol, balance, tannins, and overall quality, with every decision surrounded by plenty of healthy debate. The result? Our 2009 Claret and 2009 Tempranillo list of Oregon’s 50 most lovable wines available.
